International transport corridors are created following an agreement between different countries to reduce transport routes. They are very important economically because of the direct impact of corridors in reducing costs and time for transport.
Landlocked developing countries (LLDCs), on the other hand, are in a difficult position because their imports and exports must pass through neighboring coastal countries to reach seaports. Not having their own seaports means that they do not fully control their gateways to world trade.
Therefore, countries are always looking to design new corridors for faster access to energy sources and goods needed by their society, and some countries play a significant role in the development of the international supply chain due to their geographical location.

Our key, number one, has always been to hire very smart people.

Transport corridors are coordinated transport networks that enable such access and can facilitate faster, smoother and more efficient transit and enhance regional connectivity. The corridor approach is increasingly being used globally to provide designated and efficient transport and logistics routes between landlocked and coastal neighbors.
There is a need to increase awareness of countries’ practical experiences in developing and managing transport corridors. Transport corridors in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America have been created to meet the needs of landlocked countries, whose governance structures and management systems need to be reviewed to improve transit processes.
